AILA SALON AT CLOUSTON ADDS BODY AND SHINE - 10/11/2009

On Wednesday 4th November, CLOUSTON threw open its doors to about 25 Landscape professionals as part of the AILA 'Salon' initiative. The diverse group of attendees was treated to three project presentations exploring the notion of design continuity and the challenge of maintaining design objectives from brief to delivery.

By the magic of video link up, Tony Cox talked from Darwin about the particularities of practising in the Northern Territory, using CLOUSTON's involvement in Tiger Brennan Drive and the West Kimberly Regional Prison as examples; Justine Williams and Heidi Carlyle discussed the process of designing and delivering 'The Ponds Parklands' for which CLOUSTON recently won the Austral Bricks UDIA Professional Consultancy Award for Excellence; and lastly, Crosbie Lorimer and Martin O'Dea looked at Waverton Peninsula and Kirribilli Foreshore as examples of the process of effective communication with peers when master planning and documentation are undertaken by separate practices.

With lively interaction and discussion over pizza and drinks, the evening was thoroughly enjoyable as well as informative. We certainly enjoyed welcoming like-minded professionals into our environment and sharing our collective experiences, and were thrilled to catch up with so many ex-CLOUSTONites.

We have it on good authority that the salons will continue in the New Year. To find out more, visit the AILA website via our links page.
