Strategic Water Design

As the issue of water management becomes an increasingly crucial element for consideration in the design of the built environment, CLOUSTON is committed to the strategic use of water in our projects. Through our sustainability service stream and strategic alliances with engineering practices and irrigation specialists we can provide a wholistic approach to site design and water to not only reduce the environmental impact of development but also enhance visual, social, cultural and ecological values through opportunities for recycling, reuse and recharging.
This includes a strategic view of the water balance and budget for the site a whole. This covers

  • The sites relationship to integrated catchment management and influences and effect upon the wider landscape including, stormwater catchments, ground water recharge and water needs and allocation on site and downstream.
  • Review of how much water from all sources is entering and leaving the site, irrigation demand, planting design and appropriate species selection, the strategic use of irrigation, opportunities for harvesting and on site treatment and re-use.
  • Stormwater management through application of Water Sensitive Urban Design approaches, but with an emphasis on quality design that is often lacking in these initiatives.
